Alaysha's story continues. She and Gael are on the run from Sarum with a posse of nearly helpless people to care for and one prisoner to watch over. As they head in to the burned lands and past those borders into a world where men are a liability and women keep the order, it begins to look as though Yenic may be dead after all.
